Rules

  1. This competition does not claim any rights over access to caves or mines and does not confer any access rights.

  2. Be mindful of the locations you visit, ((always check the links provided for access rights and permissions before visiting locations.))

  3. To participate in this competition you don’t have to join in any cleaning activities of caves or mines, you only need to fill out the form and report its condition.

  4. If you decide to participate in cleaning activities in caves and mines, you must do all you can, to avoid using chemicals of any kind you will be recognised for your efforts.

  5. If the location is an SSSi, all we ask is you report the location condition, We will notify the relevant conservation officer, who will advise on how to move forward or may take it upon themselves to clean said location.

  6. If you or your club decide to adopt locations, this is a voluntary undertaking, we would ask for at least 1 update on the condition of the location a year, clubs and individuals can adopt more than one location.

Competiton Guidelines

  1. Caving and Mine Exploring is very dangerous, always make sure you are fully prepared before going underground.

  2. Never enter a cave or a mine without doing your research and due diligence first, you must be fully equipped and prepared for the challenges before you.

  3. To Enter the competition and participate, you must be a member of UK-Caving & Buddle-Pit,

  4. To participate, once you have had a nice trip out underground, fill out the form on the homepage, or on the competition page of UK-Caving or Buddle Pit and submit the form using your UK-Caving or Buddle-Pit username or name of Caving Club/Group.

  5. You can adopt locations to look after and observe their condition this scheme does not confer any rights, or help with access, but it does show that you care.

  6. Many locations will not need cleaning of any kind, just update us by filling out the form and you will still be entered into the competition.

  7. We endorse & encourage people to participate in the DCA’s SSSI monitoring scheme, you could win a £50 voucher with Starless River just for being observational!

  8. In this competition, you could win Cash, Gear, and an Award! there are 1st, 2nd & 3rd places to be won with the following 2 categories:
    - Most Adoptions & Clean-Ups by clubs.
    - Most Adoptions & Clean-Ups by Individuals.

  9. Remember if you adopt a location, we will ask you for updates on the locations status once a year!

  10. The competition awards will be held at Hidden Earth 2025!
